These were just a few quick shots. It's been a crazy couple of weeks for me around Indy.

Seller stated this was "In great Shape....virtually no fret wear"

Not really. It was cowboy chord wear on the lower frets. Finish wear on the back of the neck and dirty and crusty. Why are these guitars always crusty???? Do people leave them in the attic or what?

What was kind of frustrating was that this guy does setups and had a brick and mortar. I offered a lower price and he TOOK IT so I'm not upset or anything. I will however have to spend some serious time doing fret work and cleaning this thing up. Sounds great tho and no structural damage. I really like this guitar tho. I think I prefer the non painted wood.

This is a flat or satin type finish. Like a rubbed on oil. There is no lacquer at all that I can tell. The reish's that I have seen are glossy. Can anyone shed some light?

Thanks, Jeff

I'm pretty sure hans said hand-rubbed finish was used on the natural reissues. It's somewhere in that S-100 sticky I put together. I think.

Excellent I was starting to think refin, but there was no evidence of that. How do you keep the finish nice. It appears that oil from the previous owners thumb has "soiled" an area.

Very nice, Jeff. Is there some wear right beneath string 1 above the pickguard? Looks like an odd place for it. Ah, but a little character is a good thing!

Man, I dig the natural finish. That's a really sweet chunk of mahogany.

I do know I am quoting a three month old post.

Forgive me, for I have sinned, but there was a 15 year period where my JS II languished in its case in the basement. I just saw no reason to play it with the Starfire in the house but could not deal with the emotional baggage of selling my first real bass. However, LTG made me realize how neglected it was so it now lives in the Music Room (although Mrs. Fro. thought it was the dining room) and gets played a couple times a month. The musty smell is almost gone.

Finger rest maybe? The fret wear suggested cowboy chords being prevalent. Maybe the previous owner was a thumb strummer like Wes Montgomery? How do I fix that?
