Hi- The machine tuners are the only things I don't like about this OM-150ce. Can't find aftermarket ones that will fit. Anyone have any ideas? They're the "vintage" design, two mounting holes and exposed gears (see photo). Graph tech Ratios, Schallers, Waverlys, Grovers, all just a hair off one way or another. Any ideas appreciated.

There's a good chance you'll be needing a drill and the guts to use it, for one screw hole. Post diameter and accompanying ferrules will need to be considered as well.

Normally, a set of 18:1 Grover Sta-Tites would be a direct drop in for these machines. I did it with my Eastman E6OM. Have you tried them?

If those are the same crappy MLK tuners that were fitted to my NS S-100 Polara Deluxe, then no, neither the Grover V97 or V98 tuners will drop in. They are an odd size and I'm not sure if a drop-in tuner exists.

Bingo. Showed it to the luthier, who thinks the Schallers will fit if he fills and relocates one mounting hole about a mm. We shall see. Could do myself I spose but he has the tools and the experience and the stain for covering the old holes (though they'll be under the plates), and he'll do a couple of other little things while he's in there, all for $50-60.

They won't fit, per the diagrams on Stewmac.com. Way more mods needed than with the Schallers.

I've concluded that you're right. But the luthier can fit the Schaller Grand Tunes with just one minor mod. We think. I'll know tomorrow.

That's too bad, it was an easy and great upgrade on my Eastman. I think the originals were made by Ping.

Have you tried calling Guild?

Didn’t see why. They don’t list an upgraded tuner. They don’t post the kind of detailed technical diagrams of the tuners that the aftermarket manufacturers do. And it did not occur to me that they would know what aftermarket tuners might fit. What did I miss?

The other option is to pay somebody. I've got a very reasonable luthier, and when I put a set of Waverlys on my WM45 that previously had Rotomatics, I think he charged me $35 and that included the conversion bushings. YMM definitely V there though.

Yep, I paid the local luthier $60 to mount the Schaller Grand Tunes. He had to fill and redrill all 12 mounting holes. He also fine-tuned the truss rod. I'm fine at meatball carpentry but decided to leave this job to a pro. It came out great, looks exactly like the old tuners but works a lot better.
Thanks to all who contributed.

Good you went to a knowledgeable tech. Sounds like he had to center the posts, leading to both screws needing realignment. Many of my guitars got away with just one. Martin has a good range of drop-in options.
Did the new tuners come with corresponding ferrules or did the old ones line up with post diameter?

The Schallers came with their own bushings (not sure what ferrules are in this context; these are the "vintage" style tuners, with bushings), which they recommend using. I prolly wouldn't have known the difference, but for $122, might as well use them.

I realize you already dealt with the situation, but I'm curious if you checked Gotoh? Best wishes, Prohedonius, and again welcome aboard.

Bushings/ferrules...whatever. Maybe there's some dif, but I thought the terms were synonymous.

I did, and their online specs didn't check out either. Caveat: they list a lot of tuners that look like mine ("vintage', two mounting holes, open back). I checked out several. I could have missed that one that would work, but most seemed to be just different in color, knob design, etc.
