Need Some Advice - Maple

I have recently played a couple of different guitars with Maple backs and sides by different makers and have really fallen for the clarity that Maple often seems to produce.

I am VERY new to Guild guitars (my first and only Guild is a GAD-30 (chinese, I know)) and, thus, my Guild-fu is weak. If I were interested in a Guild in Maple, what models would I be looking for?

Thanks!

I notice you have a 000 and a GAD-30 in your signature. Assuming you like the smaller body then you might want to look for a GF-30 like the one in my signature/avatar. It's a bit larger than a 000, but smaller than a JF size jumbo. The back is arched, laminate maple. Top and sides are solid spruce/maple. Mine has a very bright but well balanced tone.

Just because, here she is

Maple is great especially with an arched back. Look for either a JF30 (jumbo) or a GF30 (mini jumbo). Pretty affordable.

Or if your feeling flush and GAS for the proverbial Whole Enchilada.....a Maple F-50/JF-65
would fit the bill.

The GF-30 looks interesting... Define "affordable." Funds are not unlimited of course, though I would be willing to sell or trade my 000-016gt for the right guitar.

Picked up my 'hog' GF-25 in Excellent condition from Elderly for $750.00. I would expect the GF-30 (same guitar except maple vs. hog) to be in the same range if in similar shape. Extremely comfortable mini jumbo body; wonderful guitars, but somewhat hard to come by...

Thanks for all the suggestions - I got a lot more models than I expected!

Am I to understand that most of these are not easy to find? I realize maple is not the most popular tonewood ever...

Well....since you ask, basically, "yes".
Out of all of 'em , the JF30's probably the most available. Seen quite a few listed for sale recently. Excellent value as it has the basic Guild quality without the high-end bling. Do not confuse with GAD-JF30 if you want an american built instrument. Otherwise it's one more option.
There was also an F65ce which is a "grand auditorium", even a little smaller than the "mini jumbos", but pretty low production volume. It was a shallow body acoustic electric.
Welcome aboard!

At the risk of stirring the pot, I will say that I am not opposed to GAD models. I am very much enjoying the one I have now!

That being said, I am not married to the idea of maple. I just find that I prefer a tone that is very articulate, good note-definition, and on the clear side. I don't mind overtones, I just don't like them to the point where it is difficult to make out individual notes in the chord, especially in the bass.

If there is another wood combination or model that would fit the bill, I am all ears!

More thumbs-up for the GF-30, here. You should be able to find one for under 800, I think. I recently did.

Approximately $800 is right in my wheelhouse. Unfortunately, the significant other says that if one is coming in, one needs to go out...

Anyone want a Martin? :D
