Hey everyone. I sold my last Guild and ver ten years ago and finally got back into one. I love the Westerly models but this brand new one really sounded amazing. The Anthem pick up is stellar in my opinion.

One thing I don’t like is the new pick guard design and how it droops down. Will a D55 pick guard fit and anyone have any advice for removing (via hairdryer is my guess) and some sort of adhesive remover? Thanks!

Congrats on a stellar guitar! I dunno about the D55’s pickguard, I suspect it would fit. Hair dryer and dental floss to ply the old one off. Then again, this one at Sweetwater looks pretty sweet, the pickguard looks fine to me, is yours different?

I assume he means the different look of the bottom of the pickguards:

Checking the year 2000 Westerly catalog:

And the 1976 Westerly catalog:

Thank you! I love it so far. A little lighter than my previous Guilds from Westerly but I have to say more lively sounding. The base E string sold me right away. Deep but vibrant.

Yes. That’s how my pick guard looks. I just don’t love how it drops down. Fretboard markers on this one are sweet (as a side note).

Congratulations, Keithandstef. Welcome back, and thanks for sharing pix of your new axe.

I'm a huge fan of the F-50R (now F-55). Enjoy it and best wishes!

@keithandstef would love to hear more about how the Baggs Anthem system works on your D-55. Bet it rocks!
I have a very simple rig and hook up directly to an SWR Strawberry Blonde amp. Honestly for years I’ve been trying find that thick but “rippy” tone I hear sometimes. I’m old and like the Alice in Chains unplugged sound.

The pickup has a nice sound to it but the guitar sounds great unplugged. So it’s pretty accurate. I don’t notice a ton of difference between the mic and the UST. A little. Maybe that’s good. The pickup never sounds muddy or quacky

I never really noticed how it drops down. I do prefer the solid black of the older ones however but I still probably wouldn't mess with it.

Regardless, congrats on the Guild. The maple F55 is my favorite but I recently got to play a rosewood F55 and that's a really fine guitar as well.
