Whether there's an under-saddle pickup in the guitar or not, I almost always have to replace the saddle anyway, because most are too low. I like the action to be a little on the hgh side because i play hard with a heavy thumbpick.
Also, since most saddles on older guitars are plastic, I upgrade to a bone (compensated). Makes a significant dfference.
