Bought a JF30-12 off of eBay Thursday evening. Sent three messages to the seller, a man by the name of Gene Meads (8761gene), but so far not a peep out of him. Paid within minutes of the auction so that's not an issue but the guitar doesn't have its hard case so I'm a little concerned about how he intends to ship it. Now that it's nearly Sunday and I still haven't heard back from him I'm just concerned period. Anyone out there in Guild territory have any experience with this gentleman or even better know him? If you do a gentle prod would be greatly appreciated. For whatever it's worth his feedback rating is 100% positive with a purple star and a score of 705. Am I just being paranoid or not paranoid enough?

Merry Christmas All!

rough weather in some parts of the country...

if the feedback is that good, just try and be patient and wait a few more days...lots of things could have happened...

paypal, if that's how you paid, offers some protection.

Yeah, it kills me when sellers do that. Like when I buy something on ebay and I pay for it with paypal within minutes. Then, nothing. Nothing?! Doesn't this person know I am suffering from GAS?! I have no idea if you are being paranoid nor can I tell you if the seller is legit but yeah if I had bought the thing on Thursday and today is Sunday I would be quite miffed by now.

Had a similar experience last week, Don, although it was not a guitar. After five days, I finally received a message stating it had shipped. Again, with a strong seller rating, he's probably OK. Give it another day or two, then inquire from PayPal.

Love those JF30-12s. Looking forward to some pics...

I had a similar experience with my recent purchase. Paid the moment the auction ended, got one e-mail saying "thanks, will try and ship it out tomorrow" then nothing. E-mailed him five days later and asked for an update. Later that day the Fed Ex truck pulls up with the guitar. No biggie, but would have been a bit less agita if he'd sent the FedEx tracking number.

I'd wait another day or two then start the process via a PayPal communication.

You must be psychic. Got up this AM and there was a message. Still a little worried about the lack of hard shell case but he says he knows what he's doing and it won't be a problem. We will know soon enough I suppose.

As for pictures, best I can do is use the eBay link to the auction. I don't use any of the services that apparently are necessary to link pictures into this forum so putting pictures up may remain abridge too far for me.

Thanks Steffan, so do I. I can't believe I won the auction so low. I suppose once in a while even the blind squirrel bumps into an acorn.

Cheers!

My bad guys! I got caught up in the holidays and never posted results.

Good: Guitar arrived. Sounds awesome. Looks awesome. Plays pretty well for having near dead strings.

Bad: Nut has some damage. Saddle is not original and leans towards the neck. Pickup is either dead or the battery is. Guitar is pretty dry and starting to split where the top joins from bridge to the end.

Ugly: The Sam Ash gig bag has a science experiment growing on it.

More Good: I'm sending it out for a new nut and saddle (Bone most likely), new strings, new battery and a set up as soon as the TKL case arrives. The split is superficial right now and I'll have the luthier seal it to stabilize it. I use Planet Waves humidipacks and they will bring it back to proper humidity for the rest of its life.

Considering what I paid I figure I'm getting off pretty easily.

Cheers!

Outstanding! Start humidifying immediately. And, agreed... Bringing one of these beauties back to life is guaranteed to be a labor of love. Keep us posted.

Congratulations ... in more ways than just one; that it arrived at all and that it arrived without any of the thermal finish fractures common to winter-time shipping; maybe that goo on the gig bag added some insulation! Stick another buck or two in it and you'll still have quite a deal 8)
