Well I'm new here, but have been lurking for awhile. Finally purchased and am awaiting arrival of a new D55E. Just looking for any advice or tips with this guitar, though I expect it to be pretty much ready to go out of the box.

Welcome to LTG! You'll find this to be a really nice lot of folks that love Guilds.

Man, a new D55E - that's a grand entrance into the world of Guilds!

Photos! (When you get it)

Welcome aboard, secrest90! Look forward to a "new guitar day" post from you when you get it. Be prepared to post lots of pictures so we can have a close look-see! :D

Congrats in advance!

Thanks folks! Yes, this is my largest single purchase on an instrument. I've owned a lot of nice equipment over the years, and decided it was time to buy a nice acoustic to pass on to the kids one day. Went back and forth on a d55 or an f55 for some time, and hopefully I made the right choice. Unfortunately I had nowhere locally to be able to listen to and play either of these. I'll be sure to post some pictures when it arrives!

I bought my last brand new Guild in 1976, "Louise," I still have her, a D25M with spruce top. She literally has thousands of hours of play time.

That was the hopes with this one. I was able to play a few Martin's at a local shop, but only found one there that really had the depth and the lows that I was looking for. It also had a nearly $5000 price tag.

I tried to upload the pictures they sent me but the files were too large. I'll post some when it gets here though!

If you're located somewhere cold, don't forget to let the box acclimate inside for 24 hours before opening it; otherwise, you'll get checking on that nice new finish. Yes, the 24 hour wait is agonizing.

I live in Northern California. It's been in the 40s to 50s lately. How cold are we talking here?

Sweetwater does a good job shipping. It should be ready to go. Maybe tune it up some. Congratulations.

Welcome! And good for you on the D55 purchase. I own a D55, and it's my favorite acoustic. Really great guitar.

It's been inspected and shipped by Sweetwater. They sent me some pictures of it. Should be here Tuesday!
I've bought several things from Sweetwater, including a small Fender amp, and they've always done me right. Oh, and I like the candy they send along with your purchase :).
