Hello all,
I am new to this forum and new to Guild guitars. I just recently acquired a D-25 which i believe was made in 1984 according to dating info I have found on the internet.
This guitar is as close to perfect as a 27 year old guitar can be it seems. Other than some minor light surface scratching in places from dust and some light rub marks in the top coat which I think will rub out the only thing I can find wrong is a small shallow ding in the binding where it must have been hit.
It does have a bit of relief in the neck, not much and the truss rod should bring it back easily. According to the man I got it from it has spent most of its life in a closet, not sure on that but it has been taken care of.
Arched back and a sunburst top. Top maybe spruce?
Pictures are not very good and reflections on the top look like marks but are not, just bad photography.
I would like to replace the saddle with bone otherwise I think I will leave it just the way it is. :D
Here are some pic's, hope I do this right.
Thanks,
Tim

Welcome Darkbeer (mmmm, dark beer...). Lot of love for D25s here, and my 12er's a real pretty burst, too. 8)

Well thank you all for the warm welcome ! Today I adjusted the truss rod and put on some D'addario EJ26 strings and I just love the sounds this guitar makes. I feel very lucky to have found no problems at all with this guitar and think I will really enjoy playing it.
And as my name suggests I like dark beer.

Welcome! A very nice Guild to show up with, for sure.

You should also make friends, if you haven't already, with Stovepipe Porter.

Hi and welcome! Nice guit!

Not sure why, but clicking on your photos caused my computer to get one of those "You computer has been infected..." warnings :(

Congrats on your beauty.
The D25 is considered sort of a must-have around here, so welcome home.... 8)

Thanks again.
Not sure why any warning's would be coming up about infections. Pics are on Photobucket.
Anyway's it should not be a problem.

hi Darkbeer:

I like your taste in beverages, and in guitars :D It seems as though we've seen several 1980s burst D25s on LTG recently. Yours is very similar to my '82.

Hoping that you enjoy it for many years!

Welcome. Another D25 lover here, mine being an '81.

I see that yours is an arch-back, mine is not. When did they make that change?

Welcome Darkbeer, and I should ask, is there any other kind?

Nice D25.

Two Corgis, I like your 12 also, I almost bought one just like it but the neck was unplayable from the 7th fret up. Damn shame, otherwise the guitar was perfect!

cheers

HI Darkbeer, Welcome aboard! Gonne kill 2 birds with one stone here to say: If your guitar's dated accuarately, it's a spruce top. Very rare to see a 'hog top on an archback D25. Valleyguy, I suspect your guitar's not dated properly if it's a flat back. The change kicked in in '73 and was a "rolling transition", basically completed by '74.
There were also some Corona-made flatback D25's about '02-'03.

Right you are, had to look to make sure, it is an archback. Thanks
