Probably not the thing to do on a 50 year old guitar but I never liked the original tuners that came with the guitar. Hard to explain why because they hold tune decently enough but I hated the sharp ends on key heads so I swapped them out for Grover Statites this morning. Was able to reuse the original bushings and I gotta say they look pretty classy. Also the top holes matched on the Grovers so all I had to do was drill additional holes for the bottom mounting holes and the original tuner footprint covers the added holes if I ever decide to put them back on. Not that I ever plan to sell this or would purposely fail to disclose this to someone if I did.

I have them on my Martin D-18 and 0-18. They are very nice tuners.

Well done
