Newark Street Starfire 1 DC upgrades

Hi all, first time posting. I am looking to upgrade my Starfire 1 by fitting Burstbuckers. Will Starfire 3 or V wiring harness be worthwhile?
Volume and tone on the guitar currently seem to be either on or off with recognised sound adjustment.
Any advice appreciated.

Now that's an interesting upgrade!

The wiring harnesses Guild sells are better than the harness in the SF I, but they're not what I'd call boutique.
