I just sat down at a local place to get a beer and did my typical check of LTG, reverb, etc. A 1964 Polara was just listed. Stripped finish but mostly original parts, no obvious issues, the frequency tested single coil pickups that I love and all for $500. Done. That’s my second Guild purchase today. This one will be really fun to bring back to life and I feel like I just saved it from being purchased by somebody and parted out (yes, that is me justifying my purchase)

Very nice. Fantastic price!
Had a few over the years. I currently have one like yours that had a Kahler vibrato installed. I removed it and filled the routed area. I haven't refinished it yet but I plan to add a middle pickup so that I can get the sound of a Polara and a Jetstar. I was weened on a single pickup Jetstar and want to be able to recreate that center pickup tone again. Not sure when the project will be completed but I suspect that guitar may be one that stays with me the remaining years of guitar playing.

Good luck with your project!

Nice rescue! I have a '64 and I like it a lot so I can say with confidence that yours will be worth the effort to restore. Congrats!

Bravo man! Great rescue and a great deal to boot. Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
