NGD Made an offer and got my hands on a 1964 T-100D. Ebay seller was local and delivered this evening. So without further ado here she is.

Sweet looking guitar, Congrats!

Is she nice and light and how do those "mystery" p'ups sound?

She is light, Best I can tell i'm going to like the pick-ups, the guitar needs a new set of strings pretty bad and a little setup work. I'm wondering if the Guildsby is original to the guitar? Don't see many of these with one. My initial thought was that this was a semi hollow, but not true, it is full hollow, which is fine by me. Any thoughts about the Guildsby on this model would be welcome.

I had a later T-100D with mickey mouses and a Guildsby. Looked like it was factory to me!

That's a sweet-looking guitar!

Hello Fixit,

Nice one! That particular guitar was completed in 'final assembly' on Friday April 24, 1964 and was registered as a T-100D, which indicates that the Bigsby was not on the guitar originally. I would assume that the model designation on the label is T-100D as well; if the Bigsby was factory original, the model designation would have been T-100D Spec.

You could check for extra screw holes under the Guildsby. I'm assuming there would be some if non-original...

During this particular period the screwholes for the harp tailpiece pretty much lined up with the screwholes of the Bigsby, so it was fairly easy to switch the tailpieces. The footprint of the tailpieces was not the same though, so you might be able to see the indentation of the original harp tailpiece at the butt end of the guitar.

As far as I'm concerned, a conversion like that has no influence on the value of the guitar; to some people the added Bigsby might be even more desirable.

Hope you enjoy that one! If you hang on to it for another 2 years, you will be able to celebrate it's 50th Birthday on April 24, 2014.

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

Thanks Hans, you are right on the money as usual :D Lable says T-100-D S/N 30984. Upon closer inspection of the butt end, there is a slight indentation from the original harp tail piece.

I better start planning a birthday party

Thanks again,

Great looking guitar, congrats on the score. Also very interested in how these pickups compare to the others in the Guild pantheon.

I like them! Great bass response they seem a little warmer than the mini's. Still haven't tried it out with a new set of strings yet. Working on cleaning it up a bit, and trying to decide if I want to go ahead and re-fret it. Looks like they have been leveled one or twice, plus some pretty good divots on the first four frets.

Hi everyone,

I've gotten the T-100D cleaned up, and a few minor issues fixed. Also have taken some of my own pictures and thought I would post a few.

The only thing left to do is play it :p
