I made it home through the wet weather on the train and subway with the new Guild in hand. No big surprises when I saw it in person. I knew the heel cap had been replaced with a rosewood one and it needed a little clean and polish. I cleaned it up, polished the frets, oiled the board and put on some new strings. It looks much better now. Not bad for being over 50 years old. It has not been a case queen but it has held up well. The only item that really shows wear is the typical thin gold plating on the pickups. I need to set it up for my string gauge and such and spend more time playing it.

Here are some quick photos with my iPhone (I feel like this guitar needs somebody better than me with much better equipment to capture the wood figuring properly)

Thanks! It’s at my new place and I have an amp here but my cords are all packed away in a box somewhere so I can’t plug it in and hear the pickups!

Spectacular!

I'd say now the new apartment feels more like home, Brad - let me know if you'd like me to lend you a cable. I will be heading downtown shortly.

Thanks for the offer! I am headed back over to my temporary place and I have one over there I can grab. I really appreciate the thought!

Damn that's beautiful.

Bring it on over. I'll Light that baby up with 3x 500Ws of power and bring out that flame for the world to see. And then you can crank it through the new Brownface Deluxe or even a vintage Guild amp or three.

Wowza, that is serious grain showing through all that flame, that’s how it should be done! You don’t paint that black. Man that is a great looking instrument, rock that thing it in all its glory 🤘 HNGD!
