This one has been through the wars but it's pretty much exactly what I was looking for. Some of you may call it "The Ugly Duckling" but I just think it has a lot of character and oh the stories I'm sure it could tell.
This was discussed here on this forum a while back and I hemmed and hawed and finally reached a deal with the seller. It came pretty much as described in his listing which is always refreshing. It has plenty of checking, some repaired soundboard cracks, a small hole in the side where I think an input jack may have been installed at some point, no HSC some cool soundhole wear and the thing I appreciate most; a missing TRC cover so all you TRC orientation freaks can't knock my little ugly duckling for improper installation. (just kidding)
The good things are that it has had a neck reset and the action is great with the Low E string height at 5/64" at the 12th fret and it also had a recent refret.
It may not win any beauty contests but it sounds really good. In my past I was not a smaller bodied guitar kinda guy but I now find myself with this '73 F 30, it's sister a '73 F 30R, a 99 Custom Shop F 30 RLS, a '11 F 30 GSR Cocobolo and a '13 60th Anniversary F 30. I also have a really fine vintage 1964 Epiphone FT 45N. Lastly I still have my '59 M 30 which I'm actually thinking of possibly trading for a nice D 55 or some sort but I'm not sure about that. It's a really nice sounding guitar.
Anyway, I think I'm pretty well set for smaller bodied guitars now. here's a few pics:
