So, I've mentioned that my goal is to pare down my guitar collection to a more reasonable number and I'm doing that, slowly but surely. I'm not giving my gear away so it can sit on Reverb for as long as it takes or, if it doesn't sell I'll just keep it or do a trade of some kind. This doesn't mean I'm not buying any guitars. My plan is to buy a guitar if it's a screaming good deal (regardless of model) or if it's an interesting guitar I've never owned or played before.

My new purchase was a really good deal I think but I bought it because I'd never owned or played one before. In fact, when I saw the Reverb listing I immediately meassaged Hans to ask if it was a fake. I'd never seen (or don't remember seeing) a F 30 with an oval soundhole before. Hans told me it's really not an F 30. It's a much thinner body F 30 CE which plays very much like an electric.

The guitar has honest playwear including two soundboard cracks which were glued and cleated. The prior owner also made some mods. He put on Sperzel locking tuners with custom buttons, added a wooden armrest and swapped out the elctronics for the better Fishman Prefix Pro system.

It has a nice Spruce top in a burst finish, solid Maple sides, laminated Maple back and a Maple neck. It has a RW fingerboard (24 frets) and bridge and a bone nut, saddle and bridge pins. The neck angle is excellent and the Low E string height at the 12th fret is 5/64", exactly how I like it. Did not come with a HSC and I'd like to find one that might fit but it's not a show stopper for me. Even with the thinner body it still sounds quite nice unplugged but really shines when plugged in. This will likely be my new open mic/gigging guitar.

Anyway, I'm quite happy with it. Here's a few pics:

Love that sunburst! Such a cool looking guitar with oval sound hole and cutaway. Congrats!

Nice looking guitar Richard, especially with that burst. I’m curious, how heavy or light is that? Being thin it must be pretty comfortable.
