Picked it up today. Magnificent. I feel like I stole it. I'll post some more details and pix tomorrow, but suffice it to say that I'm delighted!

Some props to Jay and Joey at Matt's Music... They were super-nice and knowledgeable and even let me bring Papi to the shop.

More pix added below. I tightened the TR about 1/3 turn to get the neck perfectly straight and it's just heaven. I put some Dunlop 65 on it, and put in the endpin. The polish was entirely unnecessary, and the strings are just fine. :)

The soundboard is nice, with some silking. Not much to say about it except this is the first guitar I've had with a satin finish on the soundboard. I really like the way that feels and it doesn't show fingerprints! :) There's a little bit of dirt on the treble side of the bridge which I didn't even notice until I looked at the picture. :)

I really like the plain faceplate. The black TRC goes fine on this headstock.
IMG_0973.jpeg

Fretboard is great!
IMG_0974.jpeg

Very pretty grain on the side(s).
IMG_0975.jpeg

Even the tail has gorgeous grain.
IMG_0976.jpeg

Tuners are fine. We've mentioned elsewhere that they're not Gotoh, but we'll see how these hold up. They look fine to me.

IMG_0977.jpeg

The neck joint looks perfect, and I can't see any indication that this might be more than a one piece neck.

IMG_0979.jpeg

I found what appears to be the only ding on this guitar. It's completely unnoticeable unless you take a photo spread like I did.
IMG_0980.jpeg

Just a beautiful slab of bookmatched khaya.
IMG_0981.jpeg

This is a really nice touch... I like how they did this insert at the tail. Very classy and very subtle!
IMG_0982.jpeg

really sweet pieces of khaya...
IMG_0983.jpeg

plenty of saddle, very nicely compensated.... thanks, Guild!

Oh nice, you did grab it!! Congratulations Chazmo, HNGD! Look forward to your impressions after you’ve had it a bit. Serial number shows it to be a 2020, made during the pandemic huh? So wait, then that’s not the same as the new standards recently released is it?

That's right, @Boneman. It's before they had the new standards. I think it was just called a D-40 at that time, but it is certainly is nearly the same as the D-40 standard. I'm not sure if it's the catalyzed varnish finish or if it's NCL. I think the former (which would make it different than the current products).

Congrats chazmo! I’d say that qualifies as a steal. And who says there aren’t any more great deals to be found? Well worth the trip I’d say.

Papi is all like, "you better be taking a picture of me, and not that guitar...and btw if that thing gets any closer to my toy, we have a problem"

nice score, enjoy!

And the binding is white, like a Westerly D40 - Love it! So is the binding black on Oxnard Traditional models & white on Standards?

Oh & btw, Major Congrats - Enjoy!
