Well, I've been looking for a hollow one for a while, didn't want another goldtop, nor another sunburst guitar. When these new "Back in Black" Limited Editions were announced, I knew I had to get my hands on one... A convenient 15% discount coupon helped bring it in for just about a grand all-in.

Specs can be found here: https://guildguitars.com/g/m-75-aristocrat-black/

...but the short version is: Made in Korea, gloss black finish, nickel hardware, hard case included! Completely hollow and very light. Guild says that you could have either an Ebony or an Indian Rosewood fingerboard -mine could be a very "streaky" ebony or it might be darker rosewood, I don't honestly know. Its got fancier pearloid inlays, Grover Sta-Tites, and a shiny switch tip (yay).

The nut might need a *little bit* of work, but it is certainly playable right out of the box. I adjusted the bridge a bit lower, and intonation was actually very good. Plugging it in, its a bit noisy (no more than any of my other P-90 guitars), but the middle position is hum-cancelling, and I'll admit that I spent a bit more time playing there than I usually do, just to avoid the noise. In fact, I haven't played the neck pickup by itself all that much, the middle position was "jazzy" enough for me, though once you get into any sort of overdrive or distortion, switching to the bridge was pretty much necessary.

It sounds great through my blackface Fenders and a brownface deluxe clone, very woody and extremely resonant. In fact, it sounds REALLY good plugged in to the brownface, maybe my first guitar that sounds better with that amp! It does remind me of my '59 DuoJet (somewhat) but with noisier pickups.

I'm not a guitar reviewer so will leave it there. It's a very classy looking guitar and certainly a pretty good deal, considering you get a hard case. I imagine these would be even more attractive once they start hitting the used market, but at only 100 copies, it might be a while before you see one turn up.

The neck has some heft to it, nothing major (not a baseball bat). A fun guitar for sure!

I just noticed it has Nickel hardware rather than the gold (confirmed on Website).
I think it looks really sharp with the nickel hardware and aged color binding.
Hmmmm.....great now I think I may have to be one of the lucky 99 left

Not too many dealers are carrying them.

LesB3 - Were you able to see guitar before purchase. Yours has a nice dark neck. Did you order or get locally?
I see in your notes that say some necks will look or be ebony while others may ship with the lighter rosewood -
depends on the run date.

I got mine from Cream City Music and they had enough pics online that I could see what I was getting (for the most part). Initially, I thought I got a rosewood board (since it wasn't BLACK), but it might just be a streaky ebony. Dunno. I don't know why such a small batch of guitars would have two different build specs, but maybe it has something to do with markets outside of the U.S.?

Just ordered the darker fretboard one they had at Elderly. They were nice enough to check their stock and pic one out. These do vary quite a bit in fretboard color so if you are going to order one - inquire about what you are getting.
Thanks LesB3 for the messages and help.
That is what Let's Talk Guild is all about.

Looks like from the website they ship with 11's
I use 10-46 on my 2 Fenders with 25.5 scale
so tension wise
the 11-49 on the M75 with 24.75 scale should feel pretty good.
LesB3 what do you feel about the string gauge on the M75?

Honestly, I'm still getting used to them. I prefer 10's on almost all of my electrics, even my hollowbody Gretsches.

I might change them out for 10's, which would also make for a convenient time to see what a B3 Bigsby looks like on there!

Thanks for the reply and I'll stay tuned to your post about string gauge.
I tried to put a Bigsby on my Sunburst Newark M75 a while ago and didn't follow through since the pitch was pretty hairy coming off the saddle. So if you follow through with that please post your outcome. I'm sure others would be interested in the results.

My M75 LTD is suppose to land this Friday. I will follow up with a full review: Fit, finish, Feel, sound and overall impression.
This guitar to me is worth hanging in the living room as art - worst case. It checks all the boxes spec wise.
