This is my Guild number 20 and my first f-hole archtop Guild. It's a 59, like me.

I bought it from a gentleman in Denmark. The seller described it as a great guitar, but he also warned me it was not exactly in mint condition. He was right about both.

It has wear marks, scars and loose binding. There are finish cracks everywhere, except for the back of the neck where there is very little finish left.
I have never liked artificially aged "relics", but this is very different. This is a guitar that has been played for more than 50 years, and it shows, but it has been taken good care of and still has lots of music left in it.

Playability was a nice surprise. After light fret dressing, bridge adjustment and new strings, it was easily set up to play with perfect action and good intonation.

And the sound! I have noticed people here saying nice things about these old guitars and the Franz pickups, but I had never played anything like it before and did not really know what to expect.
Now I understand what you guys were talking about!

Bienhard, congrats on the new addition and now you really need to take a family photo. Would love to see them all.

Soon.
I have a guitars album on picasa and will post a link as soon as I have sorted out some technical problems.
No family photos or closeups initially, but at least all my Guilds will be there.

Not to upstage my girl too quickly but I HAD to post this. My best friend Billy D. Light's 1958 CE-100D,...Still smoldering one night after a gig. Note the Link Wray signature. Playing with Billy is where I began my love affair with Guilds. This is the baddest guitar I've ever heard bar none. (But then I think a lot has to do with how good Billy plays and the tones he creates) It also plays itself even with his 11s on it. None of the knobs work. Everything is wired straight to the jack. In the last 30 years I've known Billy I'd say this guitar has seen 1000 gigs,... E

Yeah they both ARE. Aiden is a killer drummer, I think he's 4 now and Billy the 3rd plays piano and guitar and drums as well if I'm not mistaken!
