'Grats, GG. Looks awesome!
This an update that only Ralf and I will care about (Hans probably knows already). I found another 1977 D-55 just a few serial numbers away from mine that also has Rotomatic tuners. Maybe this entire batch got the Grovers instead of the usual Schaller M6 tuners? I thought early G&Ls and Ampegs were mysterious, but Guilds are, too. Anyway, here's some visual proof from the other guitar (I don't know if the double pickguards are factory installed).Oddly, this example has Grover Rotomatic tuners while most D-55s from 1977 have Schaller M6 tuners.
Also don’t sleep on a F-50R (or F55R) as well. I might prefer the jumbo but they aren’t too dissimilar.I may be in the market for a D55 soon
Walt.... I need you to calm down just a little bit....Really important information GG. I personally thank you for answering a few of my comparison questions about the D55. I finally did a comparison of my Guild 1986 D66 and my Martin 1996 D42 yesterday and I'll admit that the D42 may sounds nice and has great sound across the spectrum but something is getting lost in the sustain compared with theD66. They have exactly the same strings. So now I'm waiting to get my DV52 back from my mechanic after having the nut and the saddle replaced and the frets leveled and reshaped to compare it to the D66.

Super major congrats!....I figured it’s finally time to get a D-55....

Or not... it's all okay here. Just share, okay??

Walt, probably no Guild jumbo for you then. Guild jumbos are much larger than Martin's Js. That's too bad. You should definitely try one someday just so you can hear what they sound like. For some (like me), almost a religtious experience. But ithey will almost certainly not fit you.Yah Broomstick, I've been watching a F50R on reverb but I know that 17" bout jumbos are not for me. I had a custom Martin J42 12 string in the early 1990s and even then it was more than I could get my arms around. Dreads and 000s and smaller are comfortable for my 5'6" stature.
Fair enough. I’m a bug guy so the jumbos for me well enough where I never thought about itYah Broomstick, I've been watching a F50R on reverb but I know that 17" bout jumbos are not for me. It's slightly larger than a Martin OOO. It looked like a F-50 when Paul Simon played it, but it's not that big overall.WARNING: Topic Change!
So I have to ask the question about how large is the lower bout on a 2010 F30? The 2010 F20 I purchased from RichardP fits me well; more wiggle room than a dread.
SORRY for the Veer.
