One word for this one…wow. I thought it would be good but not this good. To me, this is what a spruce/mahogany dread should sound like.

Made in 2018 in Oxnard.

I’ll get some better pics this weekend. The weather is supposed to be nice.

Awesome Dave. I just have a cheap old dread and some obscure maker put Adirondack top and braces on a Honduran mahogany back and sides. Sounds incredible. Hope you love yours.

Congrats, Dave! Great choice. Looks brand new too!
Thanks Chaz. I think the previous owner must have been a fingerstyle player. No pick wear on the guard but there is a tiny bit of fret wear on the first few so it seems it was played at least. I did have to add some relief and raise the action for my playing style, another clue to me that it was set up for fingerstyle. It is in great shape overall with a nice tall saddle. I'm loving it.

Dave, did you just dial back the truss rod, or did you replace the nut/saddle to raise the string height. If the former, you may find that your high frets are hard to play. I.e., if you're adding front bowing to the neck, the fret height won't be even.

Anyway, best wishes, man. Looks GREAT!

I added relief by loosening the truss rod. The neck had none, essentially. I also shimmed the saddle temporarily to raise the action and have a new one on order.

I'm not one of those that cranks on the truss rod to raise/lower action. ;)

Congratulations!

When I got mine I couldn't believe how good it was as well, basically made me stop playing my D-18. It only gets better. Enjoy!
