There was a sacred object in my home growing up. My mother and stepfather were working musicians playing in a duo. They did this to support us three kids. That aforementioned scared object was my stepfathers Starfire III. We weren't even so much as allowed to look sideways at it but it was always there on the stand as he taught guitar lessons from home as well.
They seperated when I was 16 and I never saw it again. Now in Australia where I'm from they're very, very hard to find, I've worked in several music shops and played for 35 years and have only ever come across 3, my stepdads being one.
Anyway after all that rambling I finally found a mint 65 Starfire III, this looks like it came of the line yesterday and my gosh the sound of those mini humbuckers........by far one of the nicest playing and sounding guitars I've ever played. It's certainly one of those once in a lifetime finds. Serial 42205 PXL_20230127_221518379.jpgPXL_20220904_094253811.jpg

Congrats on a beautiful guitar. Your recollection of sacred objects reminded me of the understanding my siblings and I had with my Dad with regards to his Guild Starfire V and F50. We were certain he would kill us if we even though about touching one the latches on the case.

My Dad passed away, but the Guilds are still in the family. We took the sacred part seriously.

Welcome to LTG, and congratulations! Those old Hoboken Starfires have mojo that is second to none, and are something really special.

Cool story! It must have been fate for you to connect with that one. Love the mahogany grain stripes!

I understand how hard it is to find Guilds down under. I once helped another Aussie purchase a '66 Starfire III from the U.S. because they were so hard to find, and she always wanted one. As a bonus, the one I found for her was autographed by Phil Keaggy!

So glad you found your way to the forum. Welcome and enjoy your Starfire!

Holy cow, that's beautiful! Love the deep mahogany grain. That era, that finish, and that condition make that a definite "wish list" guitar for me. Congrats!
