That's too bad. I'm curious what issue was behind the very low saddle? Did the neck bend? Or was there a lot of bellying on the top of the guitar?
Most 1990s Guild acoustics I have seen in person have more bellying than they should for a guitar of that vintage. They also tend to have sound hole cracks. They are very nice guitars but perhaps not super durable - at least the ones I have seen. (in contrast the Guild electrics from the '90s are superbly built) In the future you may have better luck with the acoustic Guilds made from 2008-2014 in New Hartford. The current ones they are making in Oxnard are not too shabby either! I also really like and recommend older Guild acoustics made in the 1968-1972 period.

Sad update, I ended up returning it. I had it looked at and the neck reset cost is pretty high. I was told its a bit more difficult for Guilds. Still I want to have one in the future, and now at least I know what to look for in acoustic guitars. Thanks for recommending frets.com, its a literal treasure trove of information. One day I will have a Guild again! I’ll hang around here for the meantime while I dont have one yet. I hope thats fine.
Probably for the best Coldeye. These come up for sale a few times a year. You will find the right one. After a ?? number of posts you can place a WTB thread on this forum as well. Great folk here with lots of knowledge. Stick around.

I'm sorry ColdEye that the DV52 was returned but, maybe for the best, As has been said they do come around periodically; actually I wasn't even looking to buy the one that I have but, when I saw it and read the write up it seemed that I didn't have a choice. The deal was too good to pass up. Keep looking I'm sure something to your liking will materialize.

Oh, definitely. I had no Guilds when I first joined here -- that was the idea: I had questions, and these guys have answers. In fact, I think all of my U.S.-made Guilds were acquired because of "alerts" I got from this site -- just members pointing out Guilds for sale online. It pays to check in often.

I got my F-50R that way -- built in New Hartford so not that old, in near mint condition, and an added feature I wasn't exactly looking for: it came with freaking emeralds inlaid in the bridge pins and tuning posts! A jewel of a guitar! And what a deal at less than $2,000! 😁

Beautiful straight grain on the back. That DV-52 would certainly be a good candidate for neck reset as the restored set up
would be well worth it.

The Burst on your guitar is much more orange than my 1980 G312SB. I really like it(y)
