Nice! Believe it or not, that is the #1 article on my blog BY FAR. I only started internal hit counters a couple of months ago, but here's the top ten list:

That gas can post is 3:1 over the number two post! It gets hits from outdoors forums, car forums, truck forums, you name it. And it's constant. It is also the number one commented post.

Believe it or not, though, it is not the number one shared post on social media. That honor goes to this picture which has been shared countless times on Pinterest. It's from this story: http://www.gad.net/Blog/2010/05/14/annie-the-girl-scout/

Sadly, the whole point of my blog was to raise awareness of my writing so that people would read Cozy Tales, but those stories just never seem to take off. The good news is that I love writing, and the blog keeps me writing, and writing more makes me a better writer, so I keep doing it, even if I do keep putting run-on sentences on Guitar forums. :)

Back to the Nightbird (veer much?), the top is everything I wanted it to be, and I can't wait to take better pics later today.

As expected, I'm not thrilled with the pickups, so I'm hoping to be able to do what I did with the lava-burst and put some kickass HB1s into it.

Sadly, the bottom strap peg broke in shipping so that needs to be replaced. If I can't find originals I'll probably put straplocks on it.

This is the second Nightbird I've had where the detail on the inlays is not great. I'm surprised given the high-end level of these guitars, but there's no way this one is leaving my hands. :) I'm not a huge fan of the tuners on this one, but they work so I'll probably leave them alone. I wish all guitars came with Schallers. My S300A-D made me a huge fan of Schallers.

Beautiful instrument! Is the sunburst really that red or is that an indoor shot?

Sincerely,

Hans Moust

The flash brings out the red, but it is really very beautiful. It's like my SF-III-P90 where it's more brown in normal light but the reds really pop with direct light (and Canon digital cameras really push red) in a way that the SFIII doesn't quite do. There is definitely some red in it, but it's almost like you don't notice it until you look away.

I'm not a fan of Gibson's cherry burst, but some of the older faded burst get a darker deep-brown/red look to them that I just love. This one's got some of that going on. It's a very deep burnt orange that slowly changes to the yellow in the center.

I'll definitely do some comparison shots with and without flash and in the sun and the shade.

It's also got one of those sexy old-school Guild switch tips that I love. That made me happy. :)

Was it this kind of strap button? http://www.stewmac.com/Hardware_and_Parts/Strap_Buttons/Gripper_Strap_Buttons_Set_of_2.html

Hey, Schaller is now making Grover-alikes: https://reverb.com/item/169726-schaller-guitar-tuners-vintage-3x3-set-tuning-keys-gold-m6-16-1

(you're welcome... ;-) )

NM on the tuner link I posted earlier -- these are waffle-backs, aren't they?

Yeah, but those Schallers look cool. Maybe I'll put them on my Bluesbird.

Edit - probably not. I thought they had Schaller-style pegs on them. Oh well.

Another pic for TX because there's nothing like a hot girl on a leather couch.

I haven't even cleaned this thing yet but I had to take pics. It's got 20 years worth of fingerprints on it. Just like a hot girl on a leather couch. Zing!

This one is with only room lighting.

The grain on this thing is incredible, and is VERY sensitive to the angle and polarity of light hitting it. Here's a view from the bottom where you can see the grain just about disappears.

Here's another view in natural light:

Just for fun here's a pic proving I know how a push/pull pot works. :playful: All in good fun.

Based on all the glam photos, even though you don't like the pickups or the tuners, you still have a sweet thing going for this guitar !

I need to start lookin the other way. I WISH I had a guitar that looks like that, but I can't play one well enough to PAY for a guitar that looks like that. Unless it's a NS model.

Oh, don't get me wrong; even though I complain about the tuners and the pickups, this is an awesome guitar!

The tuners have a cool adjustment capability where you can tighten them with a little allen wrench. Actually, it's not the mechanics of the tuners I dislike, it's the pegs.
