I just picked this up today from another LTG member named Roger. He was kind enough to meet me halfway between the Detroit Metro area and the hinterlands of NE Michigan. This is an absolutely superb D 40T, it truly is and is in minty condition. I hope I can do it proud.

I'm attaching a few pics but the lighting is poor and they likely aren't all that great. BUT, this has a huge voice and may be one of the top 2 D 40's I've ever played. It is truly superb.

Now, I need to vent. I've listened for years to the ignorant posts by the uneducated (IMHO) about how Fender destroyed Guild quality and sound when they bought the company. BULL=SH--!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Some of the best Guild I've ever owned came from NH or Corona or the Nashville Custom Shop. I gave up trying to educate these people. They are hopeless. It's like they hear something said by somebody else and then parrott that again and again. Don't get me wrong, I love my Westerly's Hoboken's etc.. but I equally love what I mention above.

Fast forward to Oxnard builds. I have 3 of them right now and all are superb and I mean trly, superb. I have the F 55 GSR in Oxblood, the D 40 T Deluxe with the upgraded board inlays (Sweetwater called it a GSR but it's not. I will say, however, it has more special appointments than many of the Guilds Cordoba called GSR lately) and now this D 40 T which is exceptional.

End of rant.

I don't have near the experience as you do, but I am with you there, Richard! My Corona, NH, and Oxnard Guilds are truly spectacular!

Congrats Richard! That looks like a really nice one. I played a D40Traditional in the Hollywood GC a while back. It was among the 2 or 3 nicest dreads I have ever played so I am not surprised you are very happy with yours. This model is on my list - one of these days hopefully I will snag one!

My D40T is flat out the best D40 I've ever played, and I've played and owned a lot of them. It can hang quite well with two real heavy heads in my collection; my D18 Authentic 1939, and D18 David Crosby. And that's really saying something, because I think that all three of them are about as good as square shoulder mahogany dreads get. What's more remarkable is that the other two I've played, both demonstrators at Sam Ash, were equally good.

Mine might have been a score on the scale of Greenie for what I paid, and that's really saying something, too. Don't sell this one Rich!

I don't think you're seeing much of that around LTG, Richard, right? I assume you're talking about numpties elsewhere out there.

As the seller of the guitar that Richard is talking about, I want to add two things. First, it was a real pleasure meeting Richard-a nice person, fellow guitarist and Guild fan. Nice folks are becoming more rare these days, it seems.

Second, everything being said about this model is spot on…it’s probably the best sounding dread I’ve ever owned (over 300). But, as you all know, Guilds are big, and at 77 I found myself reaching for my smaller guitars so I thought I’d release it to somebody who’d play it as it should be played. I’m really glad a true Guild fan now has it!

Great meeting you, Richard, and if you don’t mind I’ll leave the avatar in my sig box.

Roger
