So I've been trolling around for a Jumbo and found this F50 . It had some funny cosmetic stuff from the previous owner. I called up the store (Music Go Round) and the web sales guy said it plays quite well. There was no case in the add but he said it comes with one. It ended up being a Gator soft case, but I kind of dig it for the light weight.
The big things are the endpin jack was moved and there is some glue slop around it, there is a plastic plate on the bass side where the controls used to be and the other strap button was moved . Aside from that there's nicks and dings, but nothing horrible.
I got it today and when I opened the case I thought, "that's beautiful . Then I picked it up and thought, "what's rattling around inside ?"
An AA battery had come loose and it took some skill to get it out.
I played it for a while and it sounds really good.
Then I plugged it in and nothing. It was the battery. It took a few minutes looking around the inside but I found a bag that looked like it housed electronics was attached to the plastic plate. I took off the plate and found the battery holder missing the battery that had fallen out. I put it in and the electronics (mic and piezo) worked!
Next I AB'd it with my only other 6 string a D15. The D15 has brighter highs and louder lows, but the F50 is much more balanced and refined. Kind of Elmore James (D15) vs George Benson (F50).
Overall I like the F50, don't love it. Will I keep it? Tell you later.

Very sleek. Tortoiseshell guard gives a nice dimension

Nice! My first Guild (my first good guitar) was a black D25, so I've always been drawn to black Guilds.

Ive been playing it more and it's sounding better and better. Guess my chops are improving lol.
Now I can look like Johnny Cash and hopefully sound more like Dave Van Ronk

Looks to me like somebody took out the original load and lock pickup system and replaced it.
Yeah it's a DIY mess inside. The guy at the store said it's a Fishman system but I don't see any brand name. The bag holding the batteries looks homemade. I'll try it out at tomorrow's practice and see how it goes.
Nice and light for a jumbo, 6 pounds even.

Good luck with your new acquisition! I haven't seen an all black guitar since I'd known it to be popular which was in the late 80s.
I hope that you get the electronics sorted out and you Have Fun playing it.

A little sound sample. I was plugged in to a Quilter 101 Mini with a little reverb added. Excuse the chops, it was a one take quickie.
The Electronics in the guitar are really good. The controls look like what I found on the DTAR site, so maybe the innards were just moved around.
I have a D2612CE with Fishman Sonotone and this guitar sounds much better and more balanced when plugged in.

I need to thank you. I was about the pull the trigger on that. I didn't need it, and certainly didn't need to spend the money, but i I was just about to buy it when it was suddenly no longer available. Hope you enjoy it... there's nothing like a good jumbo.

You are welcome. I've been in your position a number of times. When someone snatches something I really shouldn't buy I have a combination of (mostly) relief and loss.:ROFLMAO:
