So I've been trolling around for a Jumbo and found this F50 . It had some funny cosmetic stuff from the previous owner. I called up the store (Music Go Round) and the web sales guy said it plays quite well. There was no case in the add but he said it comes with one. It ended up being a Gator soft case, but I kind of dig it for the light weight.
The big things are the endpin jack was moved and there is some glue slop around it, there is a plastic plate on the bass side where the controls used to be and the other strap button was moved . Aside from that there's nicks and dings, but nothing horrible.
I got it today and when I opened the case I thought, "that's beautiful . Then I picked it up and thought, "what's rattling around inside ?"
An AA battery had come loose and it took some skill to get it out.
I played it for a while and it sounds really good.
Then I plugged it in and nothing. It was the battery. It took a few minutes looking around the inside but I found a bag that looked like it housed electronics was attached to the plastic plate. I took off the plate and found the battery holder missing the battery that had fallen out. I put it in and the electronics (mic and piezo) worked!
Next I AB'd it with my only other 6 string a D15. The D15 has brighter highs and louder lows, but the F50 is much more balanced and refined. Kind of Elmore James (D15) vs George Benson (F50).
Overall I like the F50, don't love it. Will I keep it? Tell you later.
