I've mentioned that the F 50 is one of my most favorite Guild models. Turns out I now have 6 of these including:
-06 F 50 from Tacoma-Ebony
-02 F 50 from Corona-Burst
-10 F 50 Std NT from NH
-77 F 50 NT from Westerly
-20 GSR F 50 from Oxnard in Oxblood
-79 F 50R NT from Westerly

The two new ones are the 77 F 50 NT from Westerly which I got from Glenn Jones in a trade for my JV 72. The nice thing about trading with Glenn is that you get a Pros Pro guitar in terms of playability, set up etc. Never have to worry about what you get. This is a great sounding F 50. It has a few soundboard dings and scuffs and some finish checking but it really works well with this guitar. Super nice.

The 2nd is the 06 (I think) in Ebony from Tacoma that I just received yesterday. I love me a Jumbo in Black, always have. Nice shape with a couple smaller soundboard dings, an area of buckle rash (likely) but nothing horrible and nice Fishman Matrix Infinity electronics. Pretty sure it has light gauge strings on now so they gotta go. I think once I have it set up to my liking with Medium gauge strings it will sing out as I expect. It's quite good now, just could be better I think.

Here's a few pics:

That certainly is a cool collection of F50’s Richard! Is the GSR Oxblood still your favorite? Maybe someday you can pull them all out and do a short comparison of them. How cool would that be?

Well, I am a weak man is all I can say. Especiall;y true when it comes to guitars, women and wine.. But, in fairness to me, I'm still on a selling spree. It's just that F 50's and other somewhat unique and seldom seen Guilds just seem to reach out and grab me by the throat and I just can't win that battle it seems.

Truth be told, most likely no one actually believed you were done, done - just a limited-time-event done. Congrats & Enjoy!

Very nice!

I'm aldo partial to a maple archbsck and a jumbo.

Out of interest, how does the no frills '10 STD stack up sound-wise against the others?

I have one and it seems a lot lighter and more lightly built than some other F50s I've played. More lightly built than my D30 too, which is a tank!

I've also owned F412s and JF30-12 in the dim and distant past. From memory, I preferred the F412 to the JF30-12, but last year I bought one of the last JF30-12s, the ones that came with an ebony fretboard, and it sounds incredible.

I've always been curious about whether there are differences in dound between these variants, if so, what causes these differences? The heavier builds? Ebony fretboard? Is it just a 'perceived' difference due to the extra bling or price tsg? Of course, tastes differ, and guitars from the same era will also differ.

Just curious! 😀

The 2010 F 50 Std. is indeed the lightest of all of them followed by the Oxnard build. The 2010 F 50 Std. doesn't take a back seat to any of them soundwise, it's full, sweet and loud. Also, a nice change of pace without all the bling. It has a really nice, clean look, at least to my eyes. I like it quite a bit.

I wish I had an F50. I think that is a big miss by me over the years. Congrats again Richard!

Interesting thanks!

One of the things I like about the F50 is how I can can dig into it without it crapping out.

Mind you, I didn't appreciate how much volume it kicked out until somrone sat opposite me played it. I was shocked at how loud it was. Although he did play heavily.

A nice collection you have there. One from nearly every factory, and a rosewood one too!

Ahh, addiction in the true sense of the word. I understand completely. A great point about buying from Glenn though. If you want virtual certainty of buying a well cared for, well set up guitar, buy it from someone you know loves them.

Cool Richard, enjoy.
