Greg, Nice! I have a 75 G-212. I think they are very similar, but the G-212 has flat back where i think yours has an arched back.. 78826E79-989D-46BC-99B0-8950E7388332_1_105_c.jpeg

3C4S,
nice G-212 there..
And , yes, arch back!

To drill heel for strap button or not? Probably not.

There are leather strap anchors that thread through the string gap on the headstock next to the nut which allow you to attach your strap to it. The only thing is that the strap runs near the length of the neck. It's a matter of choice.
I do not use a strap; I have always played sitting, but then again I only a hobbyist.
I hope you enjoy your D212 as much as I have enjoyed my G312 for 44 years!;)

I think the "right" place depends on what you like, not what the factory did. That's just my $.02 .

I like my strap button on the treble side of the neck heel. For electrics with a "horn" I like it on the on the end of the bass side horn.

In whatever case, make sure you're putting the button in a solid area. If you have to reinforce with a wood block, make sure you do that.

It arrived safely today. 4 days Chicago to California. It's WAY better than it was described in the ad. I've stopped playing it just long enough to post something here. Huge thanks for all the positive comments here, and you're all spot on! It's set up, and it sounds HUGE! This one was born in 1986 (same year as the movie "Top Gun"). Maybe I'll name it? It's gonna fit right in the mix & it'll have "12 string" friends too. Maybe post a Video one of these days? Much appreciation to LTG !!

Why I bought it>
I couldn't find another 80's D212M. The NT is great, and now named "Top Gun". Happy hunting LTG! Peace.

davismanLV, the right place is??

Anyone else here at LTG know about Tapastring? Necessity the mother of inventions. Add a pickup and no drilling ! Use existing hole(s)
Good read > & here they are..
Hey Greg, I bought one of these and all the parts that go with it that I never used. If you are seriously considering it ping me and we can make a deal.

Congrats on the 212. If you are channeling Petty then all the power to you. I love his music.

Thanks Mikey Ill let you know, but already ordered an LR Baggs Active soundhole pup.

Quick question...

Did you already get an 1/8th cable (10ft) and adapter to go with the Tapastring Vintage jack ?
