Nightbird from scratch build.. latest

Here’s an update, Alessandro Velozzo at Patrick Eggle guitars doing a wonderful job! Navy/Denim Burst, very thin nitro finish. The neck dimension is a copy of my ‘88 Nightbird. The maple neck binding, and dragged edges his idea. Joe Barden ‘96 Two Tones to follow was my idea. The gold Mueller bridge and tailpiece following soon, sourced from Hans.

Thanks GG…yeah I agree. Funny, Alessandro had expected it to come out lighter. He is used to working with European maple which he says has a whiter tone when stained. I love the sultry dark blue of the North American maple myself!

Thanks Mikey… yeah I love it. It’s a subtle burst of Navy over Denim blue! Funny in all my life as a guitarist, player, teacher, collector, I’ve never got to choose a colour! Different woods yes, but never colour. The Blue is so uplifting!

Thank you and I am really excited with the way it is going! Since finding the Nightbird body in Germany some years ago I’ve tried really hard to design a spec that would honour the wonderful Nightbird legacy of the ‘80’s but take it forward at the same time. But aside from that, when I saw the colour…!!!
