Since I had it out for the "Outdoor" photoshoot, I'm keeping it on the playlist for the next couple of days. I love everything about this model, except the excess weight of this particular guitar. Guild really made something special with the Nightbirds.

Yeah that’s pretty nice.
I really like the control layout.

That's a really nice one! How heavy is it? Mine was 3.83 kg, which I thought was ok, especially when I played the Les Paul first.

How does it compare to your FMIC era Bluesbird? How do you tame those active EMGs?!

Fit and finish is the same between the two though the NB is fancier, of course. Soundwise, I didn't like the Duncan '59s in my BB at all. They weren't just dark, they were muddy. I put in a set of TV Jones Magna'Tron pickups (bright!) and like it much better now. This particular NB has Kent Armstrong pickups, not EMGs. They are a little underwound compared to the Duncans in the BB. They have the richness of a typical PAF, but are brighter than most, including the Duncan SD-1s used in many mid to late 1990s Guilds. I like them a lot.

I have ‘t owned many spruce topped Nightbirds, but I’ve found the maple topped Nightbirds to be a cut above.
