Guild has always been and will always be my #1 brand of choice for a lot of different reasons. But, I also really enjoy the Martin Brand. I know they can have their issues like other Manufacturer but the Martins I've owned have been consistently good and zero problems to date. I like that.

I've sold off most of my upper end Martins. I have two left and they'll likely go in the Spring.

I've been playing open mics and a few benefits with my playing partner and wanted to get a stabl;e of lower end good sounding acoustics with decent electronics.. I just picked up this D1 and it fits the bill well

I'd owned D 1's in the past and thought they offered a lot of value/sound for the buck. This one has a solid White Spruce top, solid Mahogany back and laminated Mahogany sides. It has simple dot inlays on the fingerboard and has a satin finish. It also came equipped with a pretty fancy Martin branded electronics system. It has bunches of knobs etc. I need to figure out yet and the electronics are likely outdated but it's fine for my purposes. I don't like the barn door electronics on my more upper end guitars but it's really convenient for a "playing out" guitar and the battery change is pretty easy. It has 2, 9 volt batteries.

Here's a few pics.

It came to me and just didn't sound great so I took it to my local Luthier today. He tweaked the truss rod and installed a new set of GHS medium strings. It came to me with light gauge strings and I'm not a fan of that on my dreadnaughts. It now sounds superb and I'm a happy camper.

Nice! Those budget models still have the Martin sound. Glad it was easy for your tech to get dialed in for you.

Fantastic. I like Martin dreads. They are the standard.
