Hi

Has anyone swapped the bridge on thier NS X-175 with bigbsy for a Tru-arc? If so, which model? I think it It is a 9.5 radius that I need, but sure about the spacing post to post or if I need the lowrider option…. Will probably go with Aluminium once I work out the specs.

if anyone has made the change, what was your experience?

Thanks

I switch ed out my bridge on the 350 model with the 3 pickups, a Compton stainless steel that fit my gretsch hot rod fit this perfectly. 9.5 radius and i think 2.9 spacing on the holes. Not sure the bridges on these guitars are exact, but i see no reason what guild would make a different spacing on these two models as the body is the same. I believe the Compton made an improvement over the tunamatic it cam with. Never had a chance to try a tru arc.

I had a Tru-Arc on one for a little while. Regular old tune-a-matic post spacing, 9.5 or 10" radius and you don't need a lowrider.

I went back to regular abr-1 style tune-o-matics, I prefer the way they sound with my setup, and I like the adjustability.

Have not tried one on an X-175, but I've got three regular Tru-Arcs on Gretsches, and they're great. I also just recently mounted a Serpentune version on an ES-345 with Maestro that was giving me fits with tuning. Sorted it right out, and a great improvement tonally over the nylon saddle T-O-M that was on there before.

I have an aluminum Truarc on a Gretsch 6120 and brass Serpentune on a Duo Jet, very happy with both. I'm thinking of getting one for an M65 Freshman.

To expand a bit on that. I have brass TruArcs on my DuoJets (both DeArmond and Filtertron varieties) and a stainless one on a Filtertron 6120. The Serpentune is also brass. Stainless is a little more hi-fi/brighter sounding than the brass.

Tim can always set you straight, he has sold many of these to folks over the years so is familiar with many models of guitar. I am sure someone else has put one of these on a Guild already and he might be able to steer you in the right direction. I haven't put these on anything outside of my Gretsch's... I have a brass Serpentune on a 6120 (Dynasonic), a copper standard on another 6120 (filtertrons), a stainless standard on a vintage Jet (again, FT's), and a stainless serpentune on a new Jet (FT's) and *all* of them have been vast improvements over the rattle-o-matic bridges that came on these guitars. Tone and sustain improved in all cases. The biggest surprise came with the copper bridge -almost "bell-like" chime with both clarity and thickness. Very happy.

I would think the aluminum would be the closest to a standard Bigsby bridge, and might have the least affect / change on your sound. I haven't put one of these on a guitar w/ P-90's so can't say which is best for yours, but Tim would certainly have an opinion!

My Aluminium Tru-Arc arrive safely, installed easily, fitted perfectly and WOW… what a differenc. The guitar seems to ring acoustically and is a joy to play.. even unplugged. Very happy with the upgrade. F47D4F13-4B89-4D06-B1B7-1A85555F8DFB.jpeg
