I bought an M85 II recently, in what I took to be a Guild case. This is a rectangular black tolex case with faux alligator vinyl on the ends of the case, along with single white piping. The interior is a medium-dark shade of blue, with a black leather pull on the case pocket. There is an imprint for a missing logo near the right side of the non-original case handle (Samsonite handle; classy!! LOL!). The case dimensions are 46"x16" exterior, 45 1/4"x15 1/2" interior. My M85 sits in the case very tightly and the end of the neck and/or the back of the tuners rest directly on the floor of the case (not good!).
To me, this looks like a late '70's kind of case, but I am frequently wrong about such things. A guy on ebay tried to sell the exact type of case on eBay at the end of May. He thought it was a case for a short scale B-301-type bass, but heck, did they ever even make a short-scale B-301? 302?? I've never seen one!
What do you guys think? Here's a link to the eBay auction:

Here are some iPhone pics of my case, with and without the M85 II:
Empty case
Interior shot of cushions for holding/postioning a bass body in case
Pic by side of handle where some metal logo used to be
Pic with M85 II in case. Oh, can you see the headstock resting against the floor of the case? No bueno!
That's all, Folks!
