At the risk of starting trouble I'm soliciting your thoughts.

As stated here before I'm looking to get a rosewood jumbo. I have narrowed the finalists to two F50Rs.
One is a Corona in excellent condition at the local GC, ($1500), the other is a like new '09 NH, New York dealer on the bay, ($1600).

Prices are total, tax and shipping. Soooo.....do you think the newer Ct build is worth the extra yard?

In the words of the infamous Vinnie Barbarino, "I'm so confused!".

I will consider all opinions carefully, and let you know what happens.
Thanks to all who participate.

An absolute no-brainer to me Richard, get the New Hartford. (Just an opinion :) )

Okay, I really dont know what I'm talking about as I've never even seen either a Corona or a New Hartford Guild, but if it were me for a hundred bucks I'd go for the New Hartford. Even if that Corona was New old Stock its still a pretty old guitar by now....

Offer GC $1,000 cash for the Corona and see what they say...at least I'd try that before jumping on the $1,600 NH one. My motto is "never pay sticker price for anything."

Yeah Joe,
It does look like that one. And, Nut, the price on the NH is a thousand off the street price of a new machine.

The deed is done. It wasn't dirty, 'cause it certainly wasn't dirt cheep. I went with the NH. I was leaning that way anyway.

"All" I have to do now is wait.

Thanks all for your input.......and this way if it turns out bad I can blame y'all.

You absolutely made the right choice. Sounds like a very nice price for a new one. Best of luck & please report back on it!

When you're writing a message/post, the emoticons should be over on the left side, underneath the "Message body" heading.

Congrats on your steal of a deal. A NH F50R for that price is something to brag about. We expect pictures when it arrives.

No problem - we're all great at helping, I mean enabling, each other to spend money on Guilds

Did you consult Paul the Octopus prior to making your choice?

Now I admittedly know a few octaves below squat about acoustics, but after reading the article about the Guild factory history in Vintage Guitar magazine (Oct. 2010 issue with Alvin Lee on the cover), I think you made the right choice going with the NH-made model.
