I have been lucky to see many great musicians. Some performances still stand out in my mind. Yesterday, I took a trip down memory lane.
I pulled out my old concert ticket stubs and listed the performers, dates, and locations. Not all of my ticket stubs survived, but I managed to hang on to about one hundred stubs. I won't bore you with a long list of performers, but I would like to share one performance that makes the top five.

In 1987, I got to attend The Volunteer Jam XIII in Nashville. The Volunteer Jam is a music festival headlined by The Charlie Daniels Band. Generally, this is a Southern Rock type of concert. The Volunteer Jam XIII lineup: The Charlie Daniels Band, Gary Chapman, William Lee Golden, Great White,
Stevie Ray Vaughan, and Lynyrd Skynyrd.

Stevie Ray Vaughan's performance still stands out in my mind. I'm so glad I got to see him live.
Here's Stevie Ray Vaughan performing Voodoo Child (Slight Return) at the Volunteer Jam XIII.

I remember seeing SRV twice at the Del Mar Fair, in the 80s. He was on another level...

I saw NIrvana on New Years Eve at The Cow Palace. I remember Pearl Jam also played and The Red Hot Chili Peppers were the headliners. NIrvana outplayed the other bands. They were so tight and electrifying. Played some cool covers too. I'll never forget that show

Wow, over 100 rock concerts. You're like an order of magnitude ahead of me, Reeves -- not including my own classical performances and concerts, which I don't think really count in this discussion. Those would push me over 100 lifetime surely...

Gosh, I wish I'd even known about SRV when I was young let alone thought to see him in concert.

Happen by chance. I love Southern Rock, but I don't vibe with the crowd (rebel flags and rednecks). A girlfriend's sorority worked a concession stand serving beer at the show. I got in for free, drank for free, and saw part of the show (SRV) for free. She and I stayed at the Sheraton Music City Hotel after the show. I was working as a front desk clerk for Sherarton at the time. So, I got half-price rates on Sheraton rooms.
Wow, over 100 rock concerts.
I went to a lot of shows during the 80s and 90s. A quarter of that total comes from following the band Widespread Panic.

I and the Mrs saw Peter Gabriel at the " Fabulous Forum " in Inglewood back in 1993-1994 for his Secret World tour.. I can't remember which date was in southern California. He's always been a showman and the stage "sets" were really impressive. Paula Cole was part of the band for this tour and she did really well. You can see many songs from this tour on YouTube or get the DVD.
