AND SO...... back to Peter Green. At the start of a laid-back Kiwi Easter weekend, and more than a few Heinekens and Swedish voddies, I'm revisiting the afore-mentioned P.G. DVD. I imagine that at any moment someone's going to leap onto the stage and thrust THAT GUITAR into Pete's hands, and he's actually going to become the Pete that I adore - sadly, it's 36 years on. It's still a bloody good performance though. And did I mention the N.Z. bassist ? And did I mention my other Pete (Townshend) hero ? And Moonie ? And that most fabulous of bassists, Mr. Entwistle ?

What's a voddie? I like all these slang terms, but I forget a lot of them. What is a car's bonnet again? And how do you spell "Fair dinkem"? I'll always remember "crumpet."

Anyway, speaking of the Who, I got to see them only once, but what power! Enough to energize me for months. When did Uncle Ernie Moon die? I was surprised at how well Kenny Lane (right name?) filled in. Way better than he had been with the Faces. (imo).

I flew to the keyboard before to add to my list of things to love about America, and got derailed when I spotted West's comment about "Yanks", which I hadn't spotted before. I meant to add The Band to my list. How I could have forgotten them in the first place totally eludes me !!! (Yeah I know - mostly a bunch of Canadians.) These guys just SHOUTED to some inner part of me, and I'm thinking particularly of their 2nd, epynomous, album. THAT is my desert-island album, and that's from a dyed-in the-wool blueser !

Ah The Who...one of my all time favorites. Pete was always in my top 3 guitar hero list (least recognized, under-utilized talent). Plenty to be sad about, but you gotta love the music! I only saw them once as well, but my ears rang for days after. And this was after they had supposedly toned things down a bit in concert.

Whe ndid you see them? I saw them in '74. IMO they never really had a big long down period the way others do. Of course they were better at some times than others .but not years of yawns like some of my other faves--Dylan, Clapton

I love Pete's line..... "Meet the new boss; same as the old boss." Describes a whole lot of situations. And I must say, I've recently realised there are a helluva lot of old geezers on this forum.

Coastie,

I've got a confession to make since you know a little about American history. I was born in Cleveland, Ohio. I hit the road for California when I was 2. Moved to Texas at the age of 5 (man, I'm getting tired just thinking about it) and have lived in Texas for the last 44 years. I suppose technically, I am a "Yank"!

Speaking of "south of the border", my favorite brew happens to be Corona. However, while in Malaysia and Singapore, Hiney was the best option and I still occasionally have one for old time sake. By the way, if memory serves me, the only beef we could get in Malaysia was from New Zealand. Not bad......and that from a guy from Texas.

By the way...whoever that was looking for an F-20...there is a '66 Hoboken that was just listed on Ebay.....got a few blems.

West. Corona is very popular here, especially with Kiwi girls (???????????). Now, at the risk of offending ALL of America, I have to say that the "mainstream" American beers I've tried were all eminently forgettable !! I'll qualify that by adding that so are our's, and the less that's said about Oz-tralian beers, the better. We do have a huge number of "boutique" brewers brewing some fab. beers, as I'm sure you must. And shame on you !!!!!!! I thought it would be Lone Star or nuthin!
