Problems with caps?

I posted the thread below, and I tried 3 times via editing to make the "sfii" in the title capitals. I could do it, but as soon as I "previewed" it, or "submitted" it, it was changed automatically to small letters. Only in the title, not in the thread itself...

Any thoughts?

At first I thought this would be about wiring your tone pots.:D However, I was able to duplicate the problem in a new post, and found it potentially quite irritating. I also found a solution, if not an explanation. All you have to do is start the title with a letter instead of numbers, and it behaves. For example, I got it to work by adding either a capital or lower case "A" at the beginning, and by starting with the word "Another" as well. Same applied to the text -- starting out with "1961" made the caps change to lower case. Irksome little bug...

Interesting, Mr. D.! Thanks! That does make a difference - *why* I don't know, but in the overall scheme of things as LTG moves to a new interface, it's probably not a high priority. As you said, "irksome" is a good word for it, but now that I know, I could easily think of a thread title without starting with a number.

I had already posted about this in another thread. I was responding to someone and typed HAAAAA HAAAAA!! in all caps and as soon as I posted it, it converted them all to lower case..... as I'm sure it will do here too. I had asked if it was some kind of safeguard to keep the YELLING under control.......

Well, lookie there. It didn't do it this time.... I'm confused.....:rolleyes:

Walrus, here's another bit of info.... in my incident with CAPS they were BOLDED. I noticed that your SF II was bolded in your post as well, but right under it when it retained the caps..... it was NOT bolded. Is that a common link in this oddity?

I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT, TOM (bold+caps)

I THINK YOU'RE RIGHT, TOM (just caps)

All the best,
B.

P.S. Well, apparently not...

haaaaaa haaaaa haaaaa!

haaaaa haaaaa haaaaa!!

Nope, this time it converted them BOTH to lower case. I think maybe it has to do with what's before the caps and what's after the caps... possibly......

Mmm, you know what, and here I'm just guessing, I would say this is related with the "General Settings" configuration.

This is what I have selected:

"General Settings" => "Miscellaneous Options" => "Message Editor Interface" => "Enhanced Interface - Full WYSIWYG Editing".

And I can write with bold and caps with no problems.

Walrus, you said, in the other thread, that this configuration worked for you: could you check if you can write a title thread like the one you couldn't before, now? Just to check...

All the best,
B.

I have NO IDEA what's going on...... Strange.

And now I think it's working...... golly gee. I have no idea.

It may have something to do with what comes before and after.

HAAAAAAAAAAA HAAAAAAAAAAA!!

Yes, I think that's it. Regular text before and after and you're good......

Would you kids STOP YELLING and get off of my DAMN LAWN!!!!

Actually this is good to know. Soemtimes word processing software acts as if it knows what you want to do and it is wrong. This sounds like something that someone, somewhere, considers a feature. I hope, once the elephant leaves the living room (which means Don gets the new board rehosted at www.letstalkguild.com) we will get a chance to tune all these little interfaced quirks.

I never used bold, so its not that. And my settings are now the same as Southern's. I just tried it, it still changed the title to lower case when I previewed the new thread. It still seems to have something to do with starting with a number rather than a letter, which makes no sense, but its easy to get around.

If I use "SFII from 1961" for the title, it's fine!
