Hello again,

I'm possibly venturing into hollowbody land, and have an opportunity to purchase a Guild hollowbody. It's been modified, but I'm not in it for the collector value, so that doesn't matter so much to me.

What does slightly concern me, though, is this:

Is this installed correctly? To my eyes, it looks crooked, but then, I have no idea what a correct Bigsby install is supposed to look like. Help?

Yup, it is crooked. Probably, the existing screw holes were stripped out and somebody rotated it slightly. Dowel the screw holes and start over.

I've also seen hinges that were cracked that leaned over, but you can't see any crack on the guitar in the pic, plus The Screws Are Crooked, so that ain't the Problem with this guitar.

Best of Luck, Harry

The Bigsby hinge typically has a lot of slop in it so even with the misallignment it probably won't have any effect on the playing or tuning.

If you think the install looks a little sloppy, double-check that it was correctly centered. If it was, it's probably fine. If not, it needs repair.

Thanks everyone for the help!

In terms of centering, the guitar has been refretted and refit with a bone nut, and at the time of the work, the string alignment was checked and double checked. Everything there looks fine, from the nut down to the pickups. So it looks like centering is not a concern.

Thank you again for enlightening a Bigsby newbie!
