I have a friend who sold his retail business inventory in 2002 and spent the nearly $100,000 investing in vintage acoustic and electric guitars. He made some buys (About thirty-five guitars; Martins, Gibsons, Fender, Rickenbacker, etc. but no Guilds) which seemed quite savvy at the time, but now has trouble unloading anything for roughly two-thirds of what he spent in '02 dollars. Sure is fun to go over to his house and play them, though, a privilege I am accorded in returning for keeping the strings fresh on some of the acoustics.
