Nancy,

I'm not sure when yours was built, however you do mention that you played it the first go round until 1967. The first guitar built in Westerly, according to Mr. Moust's book, "came off the assembly line in August 1967".

I think yours is probably a Hoboken.

Does it still have the tag inside the soundhole? If so, the place of origin should be at the bottom of the tag.

Thanks West I didn't even think to look at it and yes it does say Hoboken New Jersey. Well that confirms it. Hans said it was probably Hoboken but I guess I should have looked a little closer on the tag. I always tend to just look at serial numbers. I thank you all for your interest and now I'll just have to learn some flashy picking tune to post up here...someday.
God Bless

Hoboken label

Just to get it all straight!

Actually, I said it was definitely made in Hoboken! First of all there was no Guild plant in Westerly yet in 1966 and secondly, they only made all-mahogany M-20s and Mark I classicals during the following period.

Furthermore, if you see an M-20 or Mark I from the 1967-1969 period it will have a Hoboken label glued to the inside, but it was actually made in Westerly. They only had one label (for both locations) and they didn't print up a new one till the old ones were gone. The new label was introduced by the end of 1969 and it doesn't mention a location at all.

Sincerely,

Hans

Looking at the label

Hans I would have missed this post if you hadn't of mentioned it in your e-mail. Very interesting. I can't wait to get your book . By the way...what kinds of music do you play or like or sing. It's nice to be able to keep details in my mind of the musical leanings of you fellas when we are conversing.

Nancy, let me finally add my "Welcome aboard, I'm happy you found us" to the list. Been out of town for a short family getaway & playing catch-up for a couple days now.

Great story & a beautiful job on the guitar! I for one am looking forward to hearing it when you do come up with a flashy pickin' tune.

Thanks for the welcome. Everyone has made a real effort to say hi and comment on the guitar, answer questions and just be real nice. I'd like to let the fellow who did the finish know that the "real experts" thought he did a nice job. His name is Gale and the fellow who set it up for me owns a music store and does instrument repairs here in Belleville. His name is Wayne and he owns the Harmony Music shop. There are other music stores here but Harmony is the serious guitar focus. I guess that is obvious. Hope you don't mind me giving them a little plug. I just supplied the guitar and the money. They performed the miracles. Anyway this is a super place to hang around and catch the latest scoops in addition to meeting a great bunch of people.
