Hey guys,

Sorry if this has already been asked, but how much of a difference are there between the two? I've heard the vintage ones and they sound great, are the new ones any good?

Thanks.

Must... refrain....

OK I can't. :)

The Fender HB1s suck IMO. I've owned too many sets.
The Seymore Duncan SD1s that look like HB1s are pretty darn good. I have them in my SFIII and dig 'em.
None of them compare with the HB1s. Not even close. They are sexy, delicious sounding pickups that just aren't matched by anything else I've heard. Some say they're PAFish, but to my ears they're... sexier. More complex.

I know what you mean, even if bassists aren't quite as obsessive about when pickups were made or patents applied for, but I still am stuck with this image of some kind aquatic creature (besides default  ) from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

PAFish - like a PAF pickup
