I cleaned up the guitar a bit tonight with a little diluted dish soap and naptha, to no avail. The marks are in the finish. Polished it up with some Carnauba and it feels better. The marks are really only noticeable when you turn it in the light, but they are noticeable. It isn't the end of the world but it's a bit of a shame. At least that 'hog is nice and dark so the markings don't jump out. And after the polishing it feels pretty much as smooth as it did before this incident.

Anybody got a case they wanna sell? ;)

Until I find something this one will be leaning against the outside of the case!

Current room humidity: 49%

Here's a pic where the marking is visible in the light. Looks like a bunch of little scuff marks, but it's really a pattern sort of eaten into the finish and shows the texture of the plush lining. Maybe a luthier could do something with this, but as long as I keep it out of that case and it doesn't get worse I can deal with it.

That looks like it might be a good candidate for the talc buffing Steffan (Taabru45) has mentioned, I've even had a luthier tell me he used wood ash because it's so fine. In case you ever want to pursue it.
