He was really good at this, and beyond Page, the most amazing guitarist, to me.

I'm not a big volume knob twirler, the way he squeezes out notes like toothpaste, swells and vibrato so expressive his contemporaries agreed he'd come up with something all his own, something of an undisputed master.

What an amazing range of music he could play . . . really enjoyed his Les Paul tribute show with Imelda May and Darrel Higham, but his cover of Cause We've Ended as Lovers was one of my favorites:

No kidding Al. Time to once again get out Roger The Engineer & spin Jeff’s Boogie a few times….. something I’ve done periodically since 1966.
Never actually cared for that one too much, too "'50's" for me.

This blindsided me completely. Nary a hint of a problem except when the tour with ZZ Top was cancelled halfway through, last year.
Another man done gone.

Man this one hurts. 😢😢😢 I've been balling since I walked in the door from work. Jeff's probably my overall fav guitarist. Seen him live no less than 8 times, and am glad I caught his last tour in Oct in DC. I know one thing, the active music world just got a while lot more boring! While the typical Beck fans usually go right to Blow By Blow/Wired/BBA whenever his name comes up, I'm actually a much bigger fan of his stuff from Guitar Shop on. Especially Who Else, You Had It Coming, Jeff, and Emotion & Commotion. And I'll also include his guitar work on Roger Waters' Amused To Death. All just so daring and oh so dreamy. Like the devious older sibling that would tickle you until you couldn't take anymore, then out of nowhere slap you across the face....but expressed on a Stratocaster! Lol

Which on the record flows right into this...

Just heavenly!

RIP Mr Beck. Truly one of a kind. 😢😢

Aw man. I love his early stuff with Rod Stewart singing and his rockabilly tribute to Gene Vincent. :(

Wow, that so very sad. Saw him once in the late 70’s. Masterful and unforgettable. RIP
