Though his were never my amps of choice, just try to imagine what rock 'n' roll would have been without him. :(

Amazing how he built a knock-off of a Fender Bassman and ended up building an empire!

Sandy, thanks for putting that up. There was a thread started over on the TDPRI with not much info. Google search I only found a Jim Marshall that was a photographer and hoped it was a mistake. Sadly not.

I guess he and Leo can compare notes now

Both probably owe a huge debt of gratitude to Eric Clapton, who seems to be the first to wed a Les Paul -- which had been discontinued and wasn't a big seller anyway at the time -- with a Marshall to create the sound that everybody fell for.

A story I read was that when Jim Marshall was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame several yeras ago, Jimmy Page got up on stage and gave a four-word induction speach: "It's all your fault."

It's funny how Leo, Les, and Jim were just common folks "tinkering in their garages", so to speak, and each in their own way changed world-wide music forever.

Power to the common man.

RIP Jim.

Yep. I had a reissue Bluesbreaker for a while, and kinda regret selling that. Was a great amp.

RIP Jim!

In the mess that is my apartment, I have everything I need to build an 18 watt Marshall clone.

Everything except the gumption to screw it together. :-/

Hear, hear :D
A few other tinkerers:
James How - stringwinding machines, Rotosound strings
Dick Denney - Vox amplifiers
Charlie Watkins - WEM PAs

Well said Carl, and you could just about add Steve Jobs to that list, but for different reasons.

Met him a number of times at his NAMM booth before his health issues limited his travels...always a gracious gentleman.

Always thought he liked it loud so he could hear everyone else over his drums...he was a percussionist.
