Cool. Do you remember what was the diff in tone between the electric strings and the acoustic?Just an FYI, I used electric strings (D'Addario 110W) on my '65 X-50. I played it unplugged a lot, but also plugged in. I had a '63 A-50 (essentially the same guitar but no pickup) that I had acoustic strings on.

i wouldn't say raw, just a good ,balanced tone. The nickels give a more raw, Piedmont Blues type of vibe?
Ok, I'll try it, thanks. I've got a couple sets of Martin Monel's that came with an OM-18 I acquired but I didn't like that pairing at all; PB's are way better to my ears on that one. But I'll stick one set on the X50, and the other on the D25. Cost = nada.oooh!! OP, i see from your signature you have a mahogany topped D-25.
i would highly suggest trying them on that ,too.
i LOVE nickel strings on mahogany guitars. including my flat back D-25
I use nickels or sometimes Martin vintage which are Monel.i wouldn't say raw, just a good ,balanced tone.
they're very inexpensive strings,worth trying
That was a good read...thanks for the link! Here’s Jonathan Stout’s take on strings. He play a fair amount of acoustic arch top.

I've got a set of these to try on my AA, too. Looking forward to seeing how they perform.D'Addario's nickel bronze strings sounded exceptionally good on my AA
