Well, I received my new Guild S-100 Polara Kim Thayil yesterday, and today she got a full setup. Which was actually very easy. All I really needed to do was a very minor truss rod adjustment, raise the neck pickup a hair, condition the fretboard and install my favorite strings. Elixir Nanoweb 11-46.
I can't express just how easy (and fun) this guitar is to play. It's inspired me to play riffs that I probably wouldn't on either of my Les Pauls. The pickups have just the right amount of bite but clean up extremely well. The electronics are working exactly as expected. The Phase switch is great fun, but I probably won't use it very often.
If I had one complaint about this guitar, was Guild's choice of the composite nut. It's working just fine and was cut perfectly, it just feels a bit cheap. The Grover tuners however, do not feel cheap and are holding tune just fine.
Otherwise, I'm having a very hard time putting this thing down. I'd highly recommend it to anyone looking for a new Guild, or someone like me who was jonesing for an SG, but was wanting something different than the Gibson/Epiphone options.
