Hi all,

I'm new here as I just came across a guitar of my family's and since I'm the only player I was handed a case with a guild s-25 sn: AC100078 in prettyy rough shape. I was looking to get some more info on this run of guitars and was wondering if anyone knew of channels to source parts (original or fabricated that would fit)

Looks like I'm missing the back plate, and pickup covers

Super excited to be a part of the forums to learn more and maybe acquire some other Guilds! 16787389705521113443351201553176.jpg16787390243607283161451591585901.jpg16787390950854543274540849615272.jpg

I don't believe those pickups ever had covers. Dimarzio made XR-7s were uncovered. At least all the ones I've seen.
I'm a big fan of these models, the S-250 and S-275 have the same shape. Sadly undervalued they had a relatively short run. I'll check and see if my S-275 has the same shape control cavity. Then I might be able to fabricate one for you.
You can also check with Hans Moust through his website, www.guitarchives.nl , to see if he has any.

I was going to make an inappropriate comment but I held myself back. I think you misspelled Hans’ last name

Thanks! I see now that I meant bezels! I just reached out to Hans.

The control cavity would be awesome! What color is the s275? I love that body shape!

Congrats. Those do look to be original XR-7 pickups. I've seen 3 versions. The earliest are stamped as you see in Guildpat's photos. The next version, Guild was grinding the DiMarzio line off so that it only read "Made in USA" and then DiMarzio began to stamp them with the Guild XR-7 and a part number. All these XR-7 versions were uncovered HBs.

Guilds records show 339 of the S-25 guitars made but I have #342 and I have seen a #350 out there. So the total number made is inconclusive.

Everything looks original on it. Original 3-hole pickup rings can be hard to find. If you sketch out the control cavity opening, there are custom pickguard makers out there on the web that could make a control cover for you.

An interesting thing is that even though there was a short run, you can see differences in where they put knobs and switches on the guitars as well as slight differences in the dimensions of the body itself. It's as if the models weren't being produced in a cookie-cutter fashion. See attached photo of 2 of mine. Left dark one from early in the run and the sunburst from late in the run. The early one has a mahogany body, the later one I believe is poplar wood.

Best of luck with the rescue.

Control cavity is different. I should have guessed that since the knob layout is different.

The early ones just had Dimarzio Made in USA. Later they got branded as Guild XR-7s.
Thanks for this.
Good information.

some of the early Dimarzios did have black covers but not many at all (and they are easilly confused for EMG). this S-25 did not have the covers.

that is a great piece to bring back to glory, and an awesome family heirloom!

If you look at the position of knobs and pickup selector switch between the 5 examples we have here thus far, Guildpat's, Grot's, the one in the promo ad and mine, none of the 5 guitars have controls and switches in the exact same place, which leads me to believe there was not a set template for drilling the holes out for the controls. Just kinda interesting.
