Hey, folks! I've been playing my S-300AD today for about 2-2,5 hours and when I was wiping of the sweat of the back of the neck I noticed this nasty thingy here.

How the hell this thing (which by the way looks sort of like a blister) came about? Is it the reaction of the thinner layer of lacquer to the sweat? Is there a way to treat it or it'll never go away?

I remember Quart saying in one of the S-100 threads that after about 1975 lacquer layer became thinner and I can actually feel the difference between S-300 and my '74 M-75.

P.S. Sorry for the crappy photos, it's 10:30 P.M. and my camera is not as good as I'd like it to be.
Concerned about my Guild,

Vadim,

I can recall seeing related posts to this one regarding guitar finishes. I remember someone saying the finish got sticky. Don't remember if it was the humidity or heat, but under certain conditions it happens. Try a search.

Note to members: Out of curiosity, I did a Google search of where the Russian Guy is from, "Blagoveschensk". Very interesting area of Russia, we learned about it in World History freshman year. Take a look.

Can you feel the spot? I wouldn't have even noticed it in your photos without the circle.

I've had lacquer guitars get sticky, but never my Guilds. I've owned three or four S300A-Ds, and never had that happen. One of them I played daily for decades.

The cool thing about lacquer is that it's pretty easy to repair little dings, dents and blems.

If it were me, and I couldn't feel it, I wouldn't worry too much. Easy to say from here though.

Thank you Tom and GAD for weighing in on the discussion. I played it yesterday and I can't feel it but before I lightly tapped on the blemish with a fingernail and like with a blister it resulted in a similar effect - hair-thick lines on the top of the finish in that specific place. It seems like that this move let the air outta there.

So now this spot actually feels smoother and almost there is nothing there. But GAD feel free to elaborate on fixing this conundrum :) .
