I've got a very strange s60 here and was wondering if anyone out there can tell me anything about it. I'm assuming it was a custom job and whoever did it did a fantastic job on appearance. Solder work is a bit shotty but I'm terrible at it too so no complaints The pickguard looks factory made, all hardware is Guild branded the routing for the neck is the only give away and thats not because they did a poor job. It looks factory as well but inside the cavity written in marker is MG 9.83.
I'm assuming the work was done by the hands of Magnificent Guild (MG obviously thats not their name. Or is it???) in the month of September (9) year 1983 (83). What do you all think?? Let me know if you're out there, Magnificent.

Hello and welcome

Looks to me like an S60 that someone has added an extra pickup to the neck position.

I think it’s a late 70’s, possibly a 79 model but I am known to be wrong and so are the charts.
Others will confirm or deny.

Nice looking guitar in my opinion and I really like the pick guard shape on this.

While it pains me to see a nice old Guild carved up like that, I bet it rocks.
A friend has an S-60 that he regrets carving up that he still plays. As he put it: "Hey, ya know, teenager, high school wood shop..." with a shrug of the shoulders. He had reshaped the whole body.

Yeah, I totally get it. Hell, EVH carved up his beloved Explorer and turned it into “The Shark” then commented that whatever magic was in the guitar was sadly gone:

It’s been theorized that some of the amazing tones on the VH1 album were made with that guitar and he hacked it up to make it look cooler. It was just a thing we all seemed to want to do back then.
