A "chinook" is a winter weather phenomenon involving a rapid rise in temperature usually accompanied by some fairly strong winds. Around here it affects mostly the east slopes of the Rockies and plains close to the foothills. There have been occasions when as much as 2 feet of snow has melted off in a matter of well less than 24 hours. Needless to say: water every where.

Having lived in Calgary for a few years, I always appreciated the Chinooks. It does those welcome winds a disservice to link them to this doo-doo head  .

But living in California, I don't mind if we call him a Santa Ana! That's just a bunch of hot air that blows in from the desert and really doesn't serve any purpose.

coastie, ur cracking me up man. :) 2nd time in 2 mins.

I put in a new heating system 2 years ago & had a humidifier built in. I set it as high as it will go 45-50 & have radio shack hygrometers around the house. I average 40 something w/ the heater running.

96% may be too high. You may need some silica packs in your case & a hygrometer. I'd say around 50 would be good.

Can good acoustic wood get too saturated w/ the moisture in the air & have problems?
